WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - The 17-year-old girl who is accused of stabbing and killing a 16-year-old girl earlier this week was 'smiling and laughing' while attacking the woman in front of a full classroom, police said in court Friday.
Tanaya Lewis, 17, is accused of stabbing and killing 16-year-old Danyna Gibson. Gibson was stabbed 4 times during the attack Wednesday morning inside Fitzgerald High School in Warren.
Police said Lewis attacked Gibson after a boy Lewis was dating broke up with her.
During Friday's arraignment, police revealed that Gibson had been stabbed four times, including one to the heart and lung. The witnesses said Lewis stabbed her twice and then chased her down and stabbed her two more times in the back.
Lewis was eventually pushed out of the classroom by a teacher but she fought to get back inside saying "I'm going to kill her", witnesses said.
The whole time, witnesses said she was smiling and laughing.
Lewis was ordered held on the capital murder charge without bond and is due back in court on October 4th.
