GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. - Grosse Pointe Park Police are searching for a man they say attacked a woman with a knife, leaving her with several wounds. It happened just after midnight on Sunday, December 13th. Police say the woman exited her car at Harper and Cadieux in Detroit. She was walking on Cadieux near Charlevoix in Grosse Pointe Park where she was confronted by a man who she saw earlier on Cadieux north of Mack in Detroit.
She believes the man followed her. “He cut her and she hit him with her purse and he bolted back to the city of Detroit,” said Grosse Pointe Park Police Chief David Hiller at a press conference.
The victim called 911 and responding officers and medics took her to St. John's for treatment. She had suffered wounds to her face, her hand, and her chest. She was released later that same day.
Surveillance footage from a nearby store shows the assailant fleeing. He is described as a black male in his early 20's. He was about 6’1” to 6’2” with a very thin build. At the time, he was wearing a white sweatshirt with the hood pulled up and blue shorts.
Detectives are asking for the public's help finding this guy. Any information should be directed to Grosse Pointe Park Police at 313.822.7400 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 800.SPEAKUP.
