Woman finds friend, dog shot to death inside house

DETROIT (WJBK) - Detroit police are investigating a murder on the city's east side early Thursday morning. 

Police say a 29-year-old woman went to a home in the 11800 block of Promenade Avenue to pick her friend up to go out for breakfast. Police say when she got to the home, the front door was unlocked and open. 

She went inside and found her 52-year-old friend with a gunshot wound to his body. He was fatally wounded. 

Police say she also found her friend's dog had been shot to death. 

This happened in a home near Outer Drive and Gratiot Avenue around 7:45 a.m. Thursday.
