Wrong-way driver killed, multiple hurt in I-96 head-on crash
DETROIT, Mich. (FOX 2) - A woman was killed, and multiple others were hurt in a wrong-way driver crash on I-96 near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
What we know:
On Jan. 12 at around 3:15 a.m., 911 callers reported a wrong-way driver traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-96. As troopers were dispatched to the area, a call came in for a head-on crash near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Once on the scene, troopers saw a sedan and a dark-colored SUV that had been involved in a crash. Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage.

Troopers rendered first aid to six occupants in the SUV. They were all transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
The driver of the at-fault sedan was pronounced deceased on the scene.
"Troopers are currently investigating this crash on scene and attempting to determine how the driver entered the freeway in the wrong direction." said
MSP Lt. Mike Shaw. "They will also need to wait on medical examiner reports to see if the driver was impaired or had a medical condition."
The freeway was closed for 5 hours during the investigation but has reopened.
