Man killed in double shooting at Farmington Hills apartment
"I could tell the gunfire was within 100 feet. I thought it was directly outside my window. I got on the ground - I told my wife to get on the ground," a neighbor said.
Police say the shooting was not random and they believe the two men were targeted. They have not given any information yet about a possible motive.
"He knew without a doubt his mother loved him unconditionally. We all loved him. Everybody loved him," Ward's aunt, Martha Moore, said.
Police Ward was visiting someone at the apartment but they did not know who he was with. They also said the two men were shot through a door wall. Glass was shattered and roughly 30 shell casings were found on the ground.
Police said they believe Ward was the main target.
Martha said she has no idea why her nephew would have been targeted.
"We know nothing yet. We know nothing," she said. "(He was) living his life. That's all he did. Took care of his child - that's what he did."
Ward's family said he was loving and funny and had been pursuing a career as a rapper. Ward's family is still waiting for answers and hopes someone who knows something will call police.
