Bre Teamer
What's up, Detroit!
My name is Bre Teamer. I was born in the Metro Detroit area and have been fortunate to witness its transformation over the years. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Strategic Communication from Oakland University. Though it may not be the conventional choice for a journalist, it reflects my unique journey and passion, which you'll learn more about as you read.
The story of how I ended up at Fox 2 Detroit is unique. Before I joined the studio, I was like a struggling plant preparing to reveal its petals, yet I realized I wasn't receiving enough sunlight and water from my environment. In other words, I was a burnt-out entrepreneur working 15-hour days with no life beyond my job. One day, feeling completely overwhelmed, I said a prayer asking God to guide me toward an opportunity that would allow me to live out my purpose and become who I was meant to be. Just an hour later, I received a call from Fox 2 Detroit.
Since joining the team, I've seized countless opportunities and tackled big stories. From covering the high-stakes trials of the parents of the Oxford High School shooter to delving into the complexities of the 2024 presidential election, I have committed myself to delivering news that resonates with our community. I've had the privilege of engaging in conversation and interviewing influential leaders like Detroit's Mayor Mike Duggan, Supreme Court Justice Kyra Harris Bolden, Detroit's own Kash Doll, Detroit Youth Choir, and others—each experience fueling my passion for storytelling and connection.
I believe that authentic conversations are the cornerstone of building a strong community. By sharing the facts, we empower individuals to make informed decisions and engage in meaningful discussions. This passion has led me to unexpected opportunities, such as hosting and emceeing events, where I've been able to be at the forefront of the community and build genuine connections with diverse groups.
Outside of work, my interests are varied, but my love for reading is unparalleled. There's nothing quite like diving into a compelling book; I choose that over a movie any day. I love music and the arts. The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is my safe space. I also enjoy shopping—I can't resist a good deal. My dog, Kallie, and my family are my backbone. They keep me going—especially my granny with her WILD stories.
I take great pride in loving Detroit and delivering the news to you. Follow my journey on Instagram—I look forward to connecting with you!
