A former point guard for the Michigan State Spartans is accused of bringing a gun to a Dearborn strip club, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said on Tuesday.

Keith Appling is accused bringing an AK-47 to the Pantheion Club in Dearborn over the weekend. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor, Appling left the weapon in the car and never brought it inside the strip club.

Maria Miller, the Director of Communications for the Wayne County Persecutor's Office, told FOX 2 that a warrant request was submitted to the office on Monday and it is currently being reviewed.

Police say they were called to the club around 7 p.m. Sunday by someone who reported seeing the AK47 lying visible in his vehicle, while Appling was inside. Sources at the club say, the gun was loaded.

Officers arrived, and arrested Appling, who could be facing firearm related charges. Further details on the incident have not been released.

Appling, a Detroit native, played basketball for Pershing high school before moving on to Michigan State, earning all-big ten honors his junior year. The point guard currently plays for the Orlando Magic.

The Wayne County Prosecutor confirms a warrant request involving Appling is now being reviewed, but a decision has not yet been reached. Appling's family and agent have no comment.

If the prosecutor's office decides to charge Appling, he could be arraigned as soon as Wednesday morning.
