DETROIT (WJBK) - The Detroit Red Wings have traded forward Tomas Tatar to the Las Vegas Golden Knights for a 2018 first-round draft pick, 2019 second-round draft pick & a 2021 third-round draft pick.
Tatar, 27, was drafted by the Red Wings 60th overall in the 2009 draft. This season the Czech native has 16 goals and 12 assists in 62 games. In 407 career NHL games, Tatar has 115 goals &107 assists with three 20 goal seasons including being the only Red Wing to hit the 20 goal plateau a season ago.
The veteran forward had three years remaining on his contract with a 5.3 million dollar cap hit per season.
The Red Wings continue to stockpile picks and have a combined ten picks in the first three rounds of the next two NHL drafts.
Tatar will make his return to Little Caesars Arena on March 8th.
