WATCH: Red Wings trade Nyquist to Sharks for picks

DETROIT (WJBK) - The Detroit Red Wings announced Monday they have traded forward Gustav Nyquist to the San Jose Sharks for draft picks.

Nyquist, 29, has played in 480 regular season games in Detroit with 124 goals and 170 assists.  The Red Wings 2008 fourth round pick has 15 goals and 33 assists this season.  Nyquist is a free agent next season and had to waive his no trade clause before being moved.

The picks are a second rounder in 2019 and a conditional third round pick in 2020.  If the Sharks make the Stanley Cup Final or Nyquist re-signs with the Sharks, the third round pick will become a second round pick.

The NHL Trade Deadline is at 3pm Eastern Monday.
