A manhunt continues Monday for Michael Lopez, the man accused of shooting and killing Melvindale police officer Mohamed Said, on Sunday.

The police officer was fatally shot at 11:39 a.m. in the area of Oakwood and Dix earlier today, said Melvindale Chief Robert Kennaley

Assisting the investigation is Dearborn, Lincoln Park, Southgate and Michigan State Police.

Detroit police posted that, “The child has been found safe. We continue to search for the vehicle involved," around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
