Damar Hamlin was placed on injured reserve by the Buffalo Bills and will receive the full amount of his contract. The team worked out an agreement with the league and NFL Players Association.

Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington administered CPR that was "absolutely vital" to saving Hamlin’s life after he collapsed on the field from cardiac arrest following a tackle early in the first quarter of Monday night’s game.

Doctors say upon waking up in the hospital, Damar Hamlin was able to communicate in writing — and asked his nurse if the Buffalo Bills won the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He has shown "substantial improvement" over the last 24 hours, and his neurological function is intact, but he is still in critical condition, physicians said.

“There’s nothing you can do about that hit,” Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said Wednesday. “That hit happens on every play of every single game. That’s the scary part about it.”
