Oakland County sheriff talks mental health, gun laws after Rochester Hills splash pad shooting
"We need more mental health resources," Sheriff Mike Bouchard said. "That means a full continuum of services --inpatient, outpatient, response teams, more social workers and mental health professionals embedded with us-- because we're responding to suicidal individuals every day. And to have more resources for us not only to work together to deconflict and de-escalate a situation, but then have them in treatment, which is a better option for everybody."
