(FOX 2) - Dreaming of a white Christmas? Mother Nature has a different stocking to stuff this year. Today on Christmas Eve, highs reach 36 degrees, giving our light snow cover a slow melt treatment.
A few stubborn patches of snow may cling to grassy surfaces by morning, but it’ll be more "frosty" than Frosty the Snowman out there.
Tonight, as Santa makes his rounds, temperatures drop to a chilly 29 degrees under mostly calm skies—perfect sleigh-flying weather. Rudolph won’t have much wind to battle, and those holiday lights will sparkle nicely under quiet conditions.
Christmas Day features a blanket of clouds rather than snow, with temperatures nudging up to 37 degrees. While it won’t be the snow globe scene we all imagine, it’s a cozy setup to enjoy indoors with family or out for a brisk holiday walk.
Looking ahead, the weather takes a sharp turn toward spring fever. By Thursday and Friday, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper-40s, with scattered showers likely to help wash away any lingering snow.
And the weekend? Low 50s are in the forecast—deck the halls with umbrellas instead of snow boots.
So, while we may not have a classic white Christmas, the weather ahead is perfect for post-holiday plans. Keep an eye on the puddles and enjoy the warm holiday spirit of metro Detroit!
