Detroit snow timeline: When to expect winter weather Friday in Southeast Michigan

How much snow in Metro Detroit?

By the numbers:

The snow will start to fall around 1 p.m. on Friday and won't stop for about 12 hours. It's going to be heaviest around 3 or 4 p.m., which would wreak havoc on the drive home.

We expect to see between 2 and 3 inches of snow for the entire area, but some places could see closer to four inches of snow. This is by no means a lot of snow, but we have seen so little snow that this is the first decent snow maker of the season.

On average, Metro Detroit would have seen over 14 inches total. So far, we've only seen 6 total inches of snow.
