DETROIT (FOX 2) - Winter has Metro Detroit in a tight grip Tuesday, with bitter cold and snow dominating the forecast.
Southeast Michigan snow forecast
A Winter Weather Advisory has expired for Washtenaw, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties, with snow squall possibilities.
Most areas received about half an inch.
Cold sticks around
Temperatures won’t climb above 19 degrees, but the wind will make it feel much colder — wind chills will hover near 5 degrees or even lower throughout the day. Layer up and stay safe if you’re heading out. The accumulating snow threat should end after 2 p.m. but the cold lasts all day.
Tonight, the chill deepens. Lows will drop to 13 degrees, and wind chills will hover around zero. Any melted snow could refreeze, so watch for slick roads and sidewalks.
Snow later this week
Wednesday offers a brief break from the snow, but not from the cold. Expect a high of only 24 degrees, with wind chills stuck in the single digits between 5 and 8 degrees. It’ll be a better day for travel but still far from comfortable.
Looking ahead to Thursday, snow makes a comeback as a more organized system moves into the region. This round could deliver 1-2 inches across the board, creating a fresh coating of winter wonderland. The silver lining? Temperatures will climb to a more bearable 32 degrees, though it’s still cold enough to keep roads slippery.
Winter’s not messing around this week. Whether it’s snow, wind, or ice, it’s time to embrace the layers and take it slow. Stay warm out there!
