Metro Detroit weather: Another cold day, sans the wind
DETROIT (FOX 2) - Metro Detroit is locked into winter’s grip today with a high temperature of only 24°.
The good news? Winds will stay light, so the chill won’t feel as biting. Tonight, temperatures dip to 17° under partly cloudy skies, making it another cold evening across the region.
Looking ahead to the weekend, a warming trend begins. Saturday will see a more comfortable high of 37° under mostly cloudy skies. By Sunday, temperatures jump even higher to a high of 43°, but with warmer air comes the chance for precipitation.
Early Sunday morning, watch for a period of freezing rain between 4-8 a.m., especially on untreated roads and sidewalks, which could make for slick travel conditions. As temperatures rise, the freezing rain transitions to regular rain, with showers expected primarily through the afternoon.
Be prepared for changing conditions this weekend as we edge closer to a rare 50 degree mid-December day!
