Metro Detroit weather: Another cold day with wind chills in the teens
DETROIT (FOX 2) - Another cold start to the day, but we can take some solace in wind chills in the teens instead of the single digits that we experienced over the weekend.
Highs Monday inch closer to seasonal, around 28, where the norm is 33. Add to that a strong northerly wind, 10-15 and gusty and wind chills in the teens will stay with us throughout the day. at least it's not as cold as it was back in 2014. Our record low then was 14 below zero.
The north wind will pull in lake-effect snow, more plentiful near the Thumb, with accumulations near 2 inches there. We may see some streamers as the day progresses.
The bigger storm system targeting the eastern seaboard is steadily moving through the Ohio Valley this morning, staying mainly to our south. Winter Storm Warnings promising heavy snow extend as far east as New Jersey.
For us, another reinforcing cold blast of air moves in on Wednesday with midweek overnight lows around 12.
