Metro Detroit weather: Another cool day, but warmer temps are ahead

The cool keeps coming, but a warmup is on the way.

It's a cold start with temps in the 30s and 40s and while we're in the 50s this afternoon I hesitate to call that warm. We do wind up with some morning sun and nothing more than widely scattered afternoon showers that don't amount to a whole lot.

Friday winds up a little bit less cold and Saturday we'll take aim for 70 though the warmth comes with rain. Scattered to widespread showers and storms are a good bet the second half of Saturday out ahead of a cold front.

The latest update on Mother's Day is a better and drier one. I'm not ready to give the total all clear yet, but if the latest trends hold, we might be able to salvage a dry finish to the weekend.

We'll keep the cool feel early next week, but temps will build next week and beyond.
