Metro Detroit weather: Calm day before snow returns - how much to expect
We are stuck in the middle of yesterday’s 50° weather and Thursday's 22° weather… with a lot happening in between!
Tuesday marks a transition day with calmer weather and reasonable temperatures. Through the morning hours, we might see a little bit of light drizzle in some spots, especially for locations to the south (Monroe and Lenawee Counties). We are not expecting heavier rain though. Temperatures will climb to 44° this afternoon under cloudy skies.

Heading into Wednesday another Canadian clipper system will drive through our region. This means winds will pick up, temperatures will drop, and snow will start to fly. Some snowflakes could begin early on Wednesday, but the majority of the activity is expected through the afternoon, evening, and nighttime hours. High temperatures on Wednesday will be near 36° as the winds pick up to around 30 miles an hour through the afternoon. This, of course, means the windchill will be a factor through the afternoon feeling much colder.
Snowfall projections are tricky with this one as they are tied exclusively to snow squalls from the western side of the state. We can give a general 1-2 inch range for Southeast Michigan, but if you are not underneath a snow squall, your totals will be significantly less. Alternatively, if you are under one of the snow squalls, there’s a possibility you could see totals pile up slightly faster, meaning locally some spots could get closer to 3 inches, but this remains more true for areas closer to Lansing.

Snow flurries continue into the day on Thursday as high temperatures will only make it to 22, but with the wind gusting, it will feel more like single digit temperatures. Hello again, winter weather!
