Metro Detroit weather forecast: Spotty rain showers for most of day as temps continue to trend up

Metro Detroit is in for a damp stretch as the calendar edges closer to 2025.

Friday's high hits 45 with spotty rain showers dominating most of the day. A small break might sneak in early this afternoon, but don’t count on much sunshine. Winds from the southeast at 10-15 mph add to the chill.

Here’s where things get strange—temperatures rise overnight, climbing to an unseasonable 50 degrees. Southern winds pick up, blowing 10-20 mph, while rain continues to keep everything soggy. This warmer air overnight sets the stage for a mild Saturday, but don’t put the umbrella away just yet.

Saturday stays cloudy with on-and-off rain showers and a high near 56. It’s mild, but the damp air will stick around, keeping that cozy, indoors vibe going. Winds stay steady out of the south, helping pump in the warmer air before the pattern shifts again.

Sunday flips the script with a full-on soaker. Heavy rain at times will make outdoor plans tricky, and temperatures dip to around 48. By Sunday night, colder air starts creeping in, signaling a chillier, more wintry feel as we head into 2025.

Enjoy the milder air while it lasts—colder days are just around the corner.  We'll drop quickly back into the 20s and 30s by January 2, 2025.
