Metro Detroit weather: More cold, more snow this week

Colder day ahead

Falling temperatures throughout the day with wind chills in the teens. Scattered snow showers complete today's forecast. Much colder for Tuesday with temperatures rebounding by the weekend. Meteorologist Lori Pinson has your forecast.

Get ready for another cold day. Usually we start off with readings on the low side and the temperatures increase throughout the day. Monday will be different.

What we know:

Temperatures near freezing this morning will continue to fall into the 20s this afternoon. Wind chill values will follow suit as wind conditions will be gusty: out of the southwest from 15-20 mph.

The colder air will permeate into Tuesday too. Highs tomorrow will only be near 19 degrees. Temperatures will moderate again toward the weekend with highs rebounding to the middle 30s.

As for snow, many of us received from 2 to 4 inches over the weekend. That puts our monthly snow totals at 4.9", still a deficit of -.2"

Today, expect scattered snow showers.

What's next:

More light snow is in the forecast Tuesday and Thursday. 

Between Monday morning and Tuesday night, Metro Detroit is forecasted to get around an inch of snow on top of what already fell over the weekend.

Some mixing of rain and snow is possible by Saturday with milder temperatures.
