Applications open for Christmas assistance from the Salvation Army of Metro Detroit
The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is now ready for families to apply for Christmas assistance this holiday season - including food and toys.
Families from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties with up to six people and senior citizens can apply to receive a box of non-perishable food to prepare a meal and a grocery store gift card for fresh food. Larger families will be given more. You can also apply to receive toys from The Salvation Army Corps Community Centers' toy shops for children up to age 14.
To apply, schedule an appointment by contacting the nearest Salvation Army Corps Community Center. Visit salmich.org or call (248) 443-5500 for help finding one.
You'll need to provide proof of your family members - driver's licenses or state IDs for adults and proof you live in the area you're applying, like a rent lease or utility bill. Proof for children can include a birth certificate or report card.
