Black Buffalo state record broken by angler on Grand River
(WJBK) - A Muskegon man just landed in the Michigan state record books after catching a remarkable fish on the Grand River.
Brandonn Kramer caught what's called a black buffalo, a member of the sucker family, in May in Ottawa County. The fish weighed 46.54 pounds and measured 39.75 inches. The record was confirmed by the Department of Natural Resources on June 12.
Kramer was bowfishing when he landed the record fish. The previous state record for a black buffalo was also caught on the Grand River in Ottawa County by another Muskegon man back in 2015.
State records in Michigan are recognized by weight only.
