Detroit police search for man who pointed gun at officers on southwest side

Detroit police are searching for a man who pointed a gun at officers on the city's southwest side Wednesday.

Ronito Gomez pointed a gun at police while backing his car toward officers in the 1600 block of Liddesdale Street. A police officer fired a shot at him, but Gomez drove off in a black Altima.

It is unknown if Gomez, who did not fire at police, was wounded, but officers believe his vehicle was struck.

Police were investigating a former case when they encountered Gomez with a group of men in the street arguing at 3:40 p.m.
