Detroit's 11th precinct host annual Veterans Day parade

Detroit, (WJBK) - The Detroit Police Department's 11th Precinct host their annual Veterans Day parade, honoring veterans in the community.

The parade began at Mound Road and 8 Mile, traveling east on 8 Mile, then south on Van Dyke to the American Serbian Memorial Hall for their annual luncheon. 

DPD Commander Elvin Barren was interviewed about the importance of honoring veterans.

  “We have to continue honoring our vets, their families for the sacrifices they had to make, continuous celebration, our vets deserve it,” he said.   

Local area marching bands, Tuskegee Airmen and several other dignitaries from the armed forces, have come together to celebrate all veterans. 

Commander Barren says "it’s always been important to DPD to maintain the positive relationship between the department and its service members".
