DETROIT (FOX 2) - A drunk driver hit a stopped Michigan State Police vehicle in Detroit late Wednesday and kept going until his car stopped running.
According to police, a trooper was stopped on westbound I-94 near Mt. Elliott around 11:30 p.m. The trooper's vehicle had its emergency lights activated and was blocking the right lane of the freeway while the trooper was outside checking on an abandoned vehicle.
While outside the patrol vehicle, an intoxicated driver in a Ford Fusion struck the patrol vehicle and kept driving. The 47-year-old man was found a bit down the road inside his disabled car on the right shoulder.

A woman driving on I-94 in Detroit suffered injuries after an unknown person shot up her vehicle early Thursday.
Once police determined the man was impaired, he was arrested, and both his vehicle and the MSP vehicle were towed from the scene.
"We were fortunate that the trooper was not struck by this suspect," said MSP F/Lt. Mike Shaw. "We continue to ask drivers to avoid risky driving behaviors that cause traffic crashes. This driver not only failed to move over for an emergency vehicle, they were drunk behind the wheel as well."
Michigan's Move Over law requires drivers to slow down and move over for police, fire, EMS, and road service workers. Failure to do so will result in fines.
