Woman wounded, 2 children unharmed after I-94 freeway shooting in Detroit
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A woman driving on I-94 in Detroit suffered injuries after an unknown person shot up her vehicle early Thursday.
According to Michigan State Police, the victim was on the westbound side of the freeway near Mt. Elliott, when someone started shooting at her vehicle around 1:40 a.m. The woman was struck, while two children who were in her vehicle were not hurt.
The woman was taken to a hospital, and her condition is currently unknown, while a family member picked up the children.
Police said the victim's vehicle had numerous bullet holes in it, and there were shell casings found on the freeway.
"Currently, we don’t know why the driver was shot at and do not have any information on the suspect or suspect vehicle," said MSP F/Lt Mike Shaw. "While detectives are using all the technology available to investigate this shooting, we are asking members of the community who may have information to call either 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP."
