Lapeer Co. sheriff in critically injured in car accident
DAVISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - The Lapeer County Sheriff is in critical condition after being involved in an accident Thursday morning.
Sheriff Ron Kalanquin was involved in the crash around 7 a.m. on Davison Road near Oak Road. The driver of a minivan crossed the center line and hit Sheriff Kalanquin's vehicle head-on.
Kalanquin was rushed Hurley Medical Center in Flint. The driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene.
We're told Kalanquin was headed into the township for a meeting.
He was elected Sheriff in 1980.
