Two students at Largo High School shared a very special homecoming proposal with their classmates this week.

Kyana Chevalier surprised her schoolmate, John Zamminer during class with a sign that read “Wanna have a ball with me @ homecoming?!”

John, who has down syndrome, turned around in his chair as Kyana walked in and turned her sign so he could read.

With a big smile, she popped the question and John, face turning a bit pink, said “Sure!”

The class clapped and the two shared a hug, but then the happiness really set in for John. Kyana saw he was starting to tear up and she reached over to give him another big hug.

“Now we’re going to be best friends, right?” Kyana asked John. “And we’re going to have a great time at homecoming!”

Kyana says she and John met during her sophomore year. She says he would show everyone his dance moves in the morning before school started.

“As bad as mornings are, he made everyone smile,” she said, adding John is the “sweetest kid you’ll ever meet.”

Largo High School’s homecoming celebration is October 21.
