Local activists, experts react to Obama's speech Sunday

One thing President Obama spoke on during his Sunday night speech in the Oval Office is blocking people who are on the no fly list from legally buying a gun.

Brenda Hill is with the organization Mothers of Murdered Children, and she deals with the everyday impact of gun violence. "That just makes sense if you're not on the fly list. If you're on the no fly list, you shouldn't be able to buy guns or assault weapons, or bullets as well."

Rick Ector, a gun rights advocate with Legally Armed in Detroit says the President took jabs at law-abiding citizens who purchase firearms.

Ector has a different opinion on the president's comments. "As long as that program is transparent and individuals have due process, they can find a pathway to get off that list if an error has been made, then it doesn't seem to be such an erroneous process."

Fox 2 spoke with Richard Chasdi, a professor at Walsh College and terrorism experts who says he agrees with President Obama when it comes to a stronger gun policy given what happened in California.

All of the people Fox 2 spoke with Sunday night may have different point of views, however all three of them agree this is a speech the president had to give to the American people in wake of everything that's happened.
