Local deals for veterans and military members

There's really no way to repay the debt we owe to these great men and women who served our country, but, today, as a small token of appreciation, our veterans can find deals especially for them.

Today, members of the military, past and present are being offered free admission to the Detroit Zoo. Active U.S. military and veterans are invited along with one guest.

The Huron-Clinton Metroparks are waiving vehicle entry fees and boat launch fees on Veterans Day.

The Michigan Science Center is holding a Ford Fun Free Day to day in honor of Veterans Day. All guests, including veterans and their families, will receive free general admission, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. thanks to its sponsor, the Ford Motor Company Fund.

Also, National Coney Island, one of Michigan's oldest and most recognized coney chains, will honor our hometown heroes, both past and present, by offering free coneys to those with valid military identification or proof of service.

Little Caesars is doing free pizza or $5 Hot-N-Ready lunch combo.

Veterans with I.D. can also get a free slice of any pie of their choosing at Achatz Pie.
