Police believe they've finally caught a killer who opened fire on a pregnant woman, gunning down her and her unborn baby.

The family of Bionka Lyons has been waiting a long time for this. Two years after this unthinkable crime, we learn the man police believe is responsible is finally in custody.

"They're heartless they need to die in hell," said Dolly Lyons, Bionka's grandmother. "Now that's my comment."

Lyons' brutally honest reaction comes after her granddaughter's killer has finally been caught. FOX 2 has learned 27-year-old Adrian Clarence White has been charged with the murder of Bionka Lyons and her unborn son.

"At her house," Dolly said. "He killed her right where she lived. We didn't know who it was, she was pregnant."

In August 2016, Bionka Lyons pulled into her family's Detroit driveway on Crocuslawn. When she got out of the car, someone pulled up and shot the 21-year-old five times. Bionka was seven months pregnant.

"I have been aching," Dolly said. "We have been praying they would catch whoever did it. didn't know if it was a woman or a man. They killed her right in front of her house."

For the last two years’ family and friends have pleaded for her killer to come forward going door to door, passing out fliers. Her story was recently profiled by Crime Stoppers.

And then came word of an arrest last week. The connection between Lyons and White is still unclear - but family says they are just grateful the person who pulled the trigger will now pay.

"I am so thankful they caught him, it had been a long time," Dolly said.

White is also charged with the murder of the baby Lyons was carrying. Bond set at $500,000.
