Man charged in road rage shooting on Lodge freeway
DETROIT (WJBK) - The man at the center of a road rage shooting on the Lodge freeway has been charged.
Michael Ziccarelli, 62, of Southfield, has been charged in connection to the June 21, shooting on the freeway near Schaefer in Detroit.
Ziccarelli has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, six counts of Felonious Assault and Felony Firearm.
The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 1, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. The preliminary examination is scheduled for July 7, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Deborah Langston. The defendant received a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
Ziccarelli allegedly rammed the car of a Southfield woman causing her car to crash into the wall. He then allegedly armed himself with a rifle, got out of his car, approached the Southfield woman's car and pointed the gun at her.
Ziccarelli then allegedly made eye contact with a Detroit woman who stopped to assist the Southfield woman. The defendant was armed and got back into his car. He was about three car lengths away from the Detroit woman when he allegedly fired the gun at her.
The defendant pointed his rifle at a Livonia man, a Wyandotte woman, and a Grosse Pointe man; they left the scene. Michigan State Police officers and Detroit Police officers arrived at the scene and the defendant surrendered without incident.
