The Sandusky Register is reporting that sources say Cedar Point officials began tear down of its water ride Shoot the Rapids earlier this week.

Shoot the Rapids is a log-flume style ride that takes riders through rapids, canyons and a tunnel. If you've never been on the ride, you can check out this first-person video of the ride. Click here if you can't see the video.

The ride is only five years old and has experienced its share of problems in that short amount of time. In the summer of 2013, one of the boats slipped backwards down the hill and flipped over, hurting the riders that were in the boat at the time.

Cedar Point has not commented on or confirmed the removal of Shoot the Rapids.

Back in September, though, the park announced it was adding a new coaster to the line-up in 2016. It's called the Valravn, and the park says it will be the tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster in the world. You can read more about the Valravn here
