Some homes outside of Flint may have contaminated water
The City of Flint is warning residents at several addresses outside of city limits that they could be using contaminated water.
According to a statement on the city's wesite, they may have been affected by the water disaster and should be using the filters and bottled water being provided free of charged.
Most of the homes have mailing addresses of Flint, but are not considered part of the city, the rest are in Burton.
Streets affected include Augusta, Ballenger, Beecher, Branch, Bristol, Brown, Carpenter Rd, Center Rd, Cheyenne Ave, Clio Rd, Court St, Darmouth St, Decam, Dort Hwy, Fenton Rd, Flushing Rd, Hemphill Rd, Herrick St, Hull Ave, Meida, Menominee Ave, Nedra, orr, Pierson, Red Arrow, Richfield, Ronald, Van Slyke, Walton, and Whitney.
Flint switched to water from the Flint River in April 2014. After more than a year of complaining about the taste, color, and smell of the water, state officials admitted that there was lead in the water and that the pipes that fed the city were the cause.
