A week after Scout Vester closed in Ferndale, a new eatery is already preparing to take over the spot.

Dana Taucher, the owner of Syndicate Ferndale, which is across the street from Scout, plans to open a second restaurant in the space.

"While I can’t reveal too much about what’s coming to 177 Vester, I can promise that our new spot will offer an approachable menu and bar designed to fill the space that’s been missing in our city," Taucher wrote in a post announcing the new venture. "It will be a place where everyone feels welcome—a place to create new memories and connections, to enjoy great food, beverages and more!"

The Emory in Ferndale announces it will close at end of 2024

The Emory, a Ferndale eatery located downtown on Woodward Avenue says it is closing at the end of the year.

The building where the new restaurant was empty for years after M-Brew, a hangout known for pinball and pizza, closed in early 2020. Scout opened in the space over the summer, but closed last week after dealing with struggling sales.

Taucher said the goal is to open by early spring, but that could change depending on how preparing the space goes.

"As with any new venture, there are challenges ahead, especially with renovations for a space that needs some extra love," she said.
