Suspect runs onto I-94, hit by car in Roseville
MACOMB, Mich. (FOX 2) - A man running from police was hit by a car on I-94 after Roseville authorities said he ran in front of traffic while trying to escape, prompting the freeway to be closed Monday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m., Roseville Police said a 25-year-old man wanted for theft from a nearby convenience store resisted an office and then ran on foot from the location.
According to police, he hopped a fence and ran onto I-94 near Gratiot and in front of a moving car, where he was hit.
An officer about 20 yards behind the man witnessed it happen and said the driver had no chance to avoid the suspect.
Family members arrived to help the driver, who police described as "very emotional for obvious reasons".
The suspect has been hospitalized with critical injuries.
The freeway was closed at Little Mack and drivers are urged to find a different route.
It's not known how long the freeway will be closed but it is likely to be closed for some time.
