Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until Monday evening

(WJBK) - The heat and humidity continue into Monday, and we could see some severe weather develop later this afternoon. 

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for all of southeast Michigan Monday until 7 p.m. The window for the severe weather begins around 4 p.m. as the storm rolls in and moves east. The chance for severe weather will last over the next few hours over the area until the Watch expires. 

The FOX 2 Weather Authority Team says strong wind will be the primary concern. We could see gusts around 60 mph. Expect to see a lot of lightning, too.

Hail up to an inch in diameter (quarter-sized) is also possible, as well as heavy rains that could bring flooding in low areas. 

The chance for an isolated tornado isn't likely, but it's also not at zero percent. So we'll be keeping an eye on that over the next few hours.

Counties included in the Severe Thunderstorm Watch include Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oaklans, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne. 

As a cold front works its way across the region, our change for showers and storms fades after midnight but we may have a chance for rain again later on Tuesday. Tuesday will feel more pleasant, though, with less humidity.
