Detectives seek info on suspected child rapist in southeast Michigan

Authorities in St. Clair County are looking for victims of a suspected child rapist after they say an 8-year-old girl was sexually assaulted.

James Carlton Reilly has been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child under 13 years old, and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct kidnapping, child sexually abusive activity, using computers to commit a crime and distributing obscene material to children. Police say the victim was assaulted while she was at his home.

Police believe there may be more victims of Reilly, who also goes by the nickname J.C.

Reilly was previously convicted in 1989 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child under 13 years of age, following an investigation by the Michigan State Police Marshall Post. He was released from prison in 1999.

Before moving to Columbus Township, police say Reilly lived in Warren and it may be possible criminal sexual conduct happened in that area as well.

Detectives are asking that anyone who may have been sexually assaulted in the past by Reilly to contact Detective Kelsey Wade at (810) 987-1738.

Reilly is currently being held without bond at the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center. He's due in court again on October 10 for a probable cause hearing.
