Detroit burger restaurant raided
DETROIT - Instead of juicy burgers -- the strong smell of marijuana surrounded Detroit's Bam's Burgers and More on Plymouth and Memorial... along with undercover cops and confused customers.“I just got off work, just came off the freeway. I was about to get something to eat. This is my first time coming here,” said would-be customer Daryl Billingsley.
Sources tell us the carry-out burger joint has been serving up joints - as in marijuana. Police recovered roughly eight pounds of pot during the raid.
“All I’m trying to do is get something to eat,” said Billingsley. “They’re serving more than food apparently, huh?”
Sources say the pounds of pot were found stashed in a back storage area with plates and napkins. Other drug paraphernalia and two weapons were also discovered.
“It’s a sad situation,” said Billingsley. “I never suspected it because every time I come out here they’re never open, so I didn’t think anything. I thought they were in the process of a grand opening.”
After executing the search warrant -- Detroit Police could be seen rummaging through and towing away two cars. They also questioned someone inside. It appears the burger and coney carry-out may be shut down for good.
