Ford Dearborn Truck Plant evacuated due to fire
The Ford Dearborn Truck Plant was evacuated due to a fire Thursday afternoon.
A roof fire broke out at the plant at about 5:40 p.m. There were no injuries and employees in the final assembly area were evacuated, according to Kelli Felker, Safety Communications Lead.
The Dearborn Fire Department were at the scene responding to the incident at the plant, located at 3001 Miller Road. By about 6:10 p.m. employees were allowed to go back to work after firefighters gave the all-clear.
Employees called FOX 2 and said that a work area inside, filled up with smoke.
Some employees at the plant have called FOX 2 complaining of fumes after the incident, despite the all-clear.
According to Ford.com, the plant opened in 2004 and produces the Ford F-150, Super Cab, Crew Cab, Regular Cab 5.5' box, 6.5' box Models XL, STX, XLT, FX4, Lariat, Platinum, Raptor, Harley Davidson, Mark LT for Mexican Market.
