Wife found dead, husband unconscious in murder-attempted suicide in Waterford Twp: police

WATERFORD TWP, Mich. (FOX 2) - Police are investigating what appears to be a murder and attempted suicide of a husband and wife in Waterford Township.

Police were called to a home in the 5300 block of Lockwood Drive, which is near Hatchery and Airport roads, for a welfare check Sunday evening after the wife did not show up for work that day. 

Police say when they got to the home, they found the 56-year-old woman dead from apparent blunt force trauma. Police also found her 71-year-old husband unconscious from an apparent overdose. 

Police say the preliminary investigation appears this is a homicide/attempted suicide. 

Police say the husband is in custody.
