Winter blast hits SE Michigan causing warnings, advisories

A blast of winter weather descended on SE Michigan as rush hour began Tuesday.

Many are experiencing  a mix of sleet and snow causing a slow commute. Weather Authority Rich Luterman said it is now changing to snow and it's going to be this way for the next six to eight hours.

More snow is expected and there are some pockets of heavier snow. It's going to be tricky on the roads tonight.

A winter storm is in effect for counties north of Eight Mile, while a winter weather advisory is in effect for counties south of Eight Mile.

Many will see three to five inches of snow to the south, but it is going to be closer to four to eight inches to the north.
