Tracking Santa's journey across the globe
(WJBK) - Most of the time we spend tracking storms here at The Weather Authority, but today ... we're tracking Santa!
According to reports, Santa left the North Pole at roughly 5:00 AM this morning. We did receive some visual evidence of this and it looks like everything is on track: sleigh looks shiny, reindeer appear healthy and Santa looks motivated. Ho-ho-here we go!
Santa started in Western Russia.
After sweeping that area he headed south to take care of Australia. This is the second time we got a shot of him as he flew by the Sydney Opera house about 8:36 AM Eastern Time.
After this picture, it was tough to track him down until we caught a glimpse when he was in New Delhi, India around the Taj Mahal at 11:56 AM.
From what we could see, it appeared that all was going well and according to plan.
At 12:25 PM we caught a shot of him near Kandahar, Afghanistan (presumably also dropping off some presents to military members).
And then, at 1:10 PM we were lucky enough to get a quick view as he visited Moscow, Russia (this picture is blurry, but hey, it's hard trying to take a picture of Santa!)
If my calculations are correct, he will be near Rome, Italy around 4:30 PM and then near London, England close to 7:00 PM. After that, who knows?
He'll have to make sure the reindeer get a potty break and some food so I'm not totally sure where his night will take him. But I do know that he'll be in the USA after midnight as long as everyone is asleep.
I can't wait!
